The line is the foundation of all drawing. It is the first and most versatile of the visual elements of art. A line in art can be used in many different ways. It can suggest shape, pattern, form, structure, growth, depth, distance, rhythm, movement and emotions. Most of these journal works are visual records of thoughts and experiences of place. Some have been developed into larger more prolonged works while others are simply visual, meditative play.
