Before dawn

Heavy shower of rain before dawn
A siren’s mournful wail
A life that has been turned on its head
Split moment changes all
A life that never will be again
To know how things were before the fall.

In the space between the moon and night
On a yoga mat, strike a pose, modified
The quiet silence of the picanninny
Sits softly on the hard ground
Moving silently between two worlds
Pegging my hopes on movement from the past
Summer’s warmth in autumn fades
The morning’s cool tempers a heated mind.

Repetitive thinking is a cyclic trap
Memories raked over again
While the sun is clear out of a clear sky.

Air soft on my joy filled face
Long white cloud
Rolls across time to settle at my feet.

A circle of gold, a band of life,
Together as husbands neither a wife.
This is how we face both joy and strife.
