Twelve hours in emergency a night with no rests
Waiting for the results from a series of tests
The final diagnosis was not we expected
Nervous or muscular pain was not detected
A stress fracture in a screw hole of healing bones
More weeks back on crutches, no weight, no canes
No physio, no exercise and frustration galore
Back to square two, again, oh what a bore
What was I doing Doctor Sanjeev asked of me
Doing exactly as was told was my tired plea
Aiming for wellness, then being kicked in the guts
Being told to do, now told was doing too much
This is my body and the healing journey’s mine
A torturous path towards recovery and feeling fine
Seems my path still has more twists and turns
Lessons to be learnt before my body is for worms.
